Shri Vyadeshwar Temple, famous as an ancient and awakened shrine of Lord Shiva, is situated at Guhagar in Ratnagiri district. According to the Shri Vyadeshwar Mahatmya, this temple is said to have been built in the 12th century.

The main entrance of the temple is very beautifully built with sculptures of apsaras on both sides. After entering through the entrance, there is a small temple of Shri Hanuman on the left side and a small temple of Shri Garuda Dev on the right side. There is a very beautiful stone lamp in front of the Garuda Dev Temple. As soon as one enters the outer hall of the temple, the magnificent and beautiful Nandi idol catches one’s attention. After entering the main temple in front of the idol of Nandi, it has grand assembly hall. In the gabhara in front of the assembly hall is a Shiva pindi made of black stone with a beautifully carved copper image of Nagaraj.

To the right of Vyadeshwar temple is Shree Surya Narayan temple and to the left is Shree Lakshmi Narayan temple. The temple has a beautiful idol of Shri Lakshmi Narayana. At the back of this temple is the temple of Shri Ambika Devi i.e. Parvati Devi. The Goddess established in this temple has 16 hands and each hand holds various weapons. Beside this temple is Shri Ganesha temple. The quadrilateral Ganesha idol is left trunk and is very attractive.

Devotees throng this temple to perform Rudrabhishek and Jalabhishek on every Monday of Shravan. Similarly, a big festival is celebrated on Mahashivratri in this temple.
